Who can apply for the Green Card Lottery?
U.S. immigration law and regulations mandate that a DV entrant must have two years of work experience in a profession that needs at least two years of training or at least have a high school degree or its equivalent within the last five years.
What Forms are required for the Family Green Card application?
The required Forms for the Family-based Green Card are:
Family Sponsorship Form (I-130),
Green Card Application Form (I-485),
Online Green Card Application Form (DS-260),
Financial Support Form (I-864),
Work Permit Application Form (I-765) and
Travel Permit Application Form (I-131).
As a Green Card holder you are able to:
sponsor your spouse or unmarried children in order to come to the US,
receive Medicare and social security benefits,
be eligible for federal benefits,
travel outside the United States and serve in the US military.
Can you get deported if you have a green card?
The immigration status of a green card allows you to live and work permanently in the U.S.
It is possible, however to be deported.
The U.S. deports thousands of lawful permanent residents a year, 10% of all deportees.
Small and non-violent crimes may be the reason for their deportation.
These Green Cards are available to 3 groups of workers who are very different from one another.
1. Skilled workers, are employees that need to have at least two years of training or work experience, which is not temporary or seasonal. In order to be eligible, they must do the work of qualified workers who are not available in the United States.
2. Professionals, are foreign nationals whose job required a U.S. bachelor degree or a foreign equivalent diploma. They also must work a job that qualified workers in the U.S. are unavailable to do. And
3. Other workers, which is a subcategory for foreign nationals that perform unskilled labor, which requires less than 2 years of training/experience. In all three cases a PERM is required and a waiver of interest in not available!
What is a green card and what is its purpose?
A green card is a colloquial term for the identity card given to permanent immigrants by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, who are legally permitted permanently to live and work in the U.S.
Each type of Green Card can differ from one another in terms of the application process, but it usually goes like this:
1. A petitioner must file an immigrant petition for you (in some cases, you can file one for yourself);
2. You file a Green Card application with USCIS or a visa application with the U.S. Department of State, only after USCIS approves your immigrant petition;
3. You provide your fingerprints, photos and signature at the biometrics appointment;
4. You collect all the required documents and prepare for the interview and
5. You attend the interview!
Required documents for the Asylum Green Card?
To be able to seek Asylum in the US you need the following documentation:
copy of your passport page with the nonimmigrant visa or parole stamp,
Form I-485 or Form I-912,
proof of your grant of asylum (Form I-94),
two passport photos of yourself,
proof of 1-year physical presence in the United States,
copy of your birth certificate,
the medical examination Form (Form I-693) and certified police records.
